York College – Ranked as Yorkshire’s No.1 General Further Education College and rated in the top three Colleges in the country for A Levels.
The problem – The College was in need of a massive refurbishment along with various furniture removal and soft demolition works. We were advised that as classes and training would still be running, the grounds were not fully closed to staff and students. Carting large and heavy furniture up and down the stairs, halls, and corridors would be a challenge in high-traffic areas.
The solution – Supply a team of 8 and a hands-on team leader to work under the direction of Geoff Wroe, the Estates & facilities manager for a total of 2 months. Picking and storing the vast library of books into storage bins and moving them to a holding area, dismantling desks and multiple items of furniture on multiple floors, relocating furniture throughout the college, or removing it entirely to allocated waste areas on site.
